There's gotta be other lit nerds in here. Gonna throw my vote behind The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket by Edgar Allen Poe. Best ending I've read in a book ever. Or Moby Dick. And of course everything in the erotic fiction section.

Kinda surprised at how good Eden of the East was once I started in on it. I wish they'd do an anime series of Ikigami, the manga is fucking phenomenal.

I would have to give Ampere's "Like Shadows" best screamo of 2011 This. Not skramz, but Night Terror's Cavern was awesome, as was the new Wolves in the Throne Room, Mogwai, and The Evens. The new Pig Heart Transplant was pretty weird too. I don't know, there wasn't much new skramz that blew my mind...

I haven't played in a while, but I gave 4.0 a shot when I was and it was okay. I liked not having to take 3 hours to set up a character (especially after my bumbling idiot paladin fell 400 feet into a ravine and died), but some of the nice details of having the customization options were missing.
