Re: Your Band
i'm in two bands right now.
one is 'half awake,' a screamo band. it's me, the bassist from my old band szep alma playing guitar, and my friend and his brother on drums and bass. i dont know exactly what to compare it to really. there's a lot of hardcore punk and indie rock influence, which has led us to be compared to touche amore and la dispute around town, but then again, no one really knows anything besides them that isnt metalcore. we've been told we sound a little like loma prieta, parrhesia, orchid, or miischa though. we're doing a weekend with texas instruments towards the end of april, so if you're in the midwest you should come hang.
we're doing two splits; one with milwaukee's version of native: alta, which will be on CD and maybe tapes. we're currently working on a split tape with iwontstopwonderinguntilyoustopbreathing. people who post on here should know them. nolan writes some sick songs.

i also play bass in a powerviolence/grindy hardcore band called shock value. i'm a late addition and like three years younger than the other members, but i've ended up writing the majority of the riffs and booking a good amount of the shows. people compare us to the holy trinity; spazz, infest, and godstomper, but i really don't think we sound much like them at all. we're actually starting take on a "skramz-violence" sound (as bigmin would say). i'd say its like a mind eraser/trash talk s/t era mix? milwaukee's youth crew revival scene hates us because we (besides the vocalist) aren't edge, but we've fit in with the noise/grind scene pretty well. we played with thou and the body last friday and we're doing a show with weekend nachos in may. that's all the stuff we have so far. we have a handful of splits lined up, but i don't really handle that.

(i recorded a few tracks that the band doesnt want me to show anyone, but if you're interested, pm me. i'm pretty stoked on them.)
