After I posted I went and read your blog.

I read your review of Retox and thought you had stuck to your mission (of giving praise where it was due) and then went down to the first post you have on your blog, it was for the new Sohns album. That band sucks sooo much, and that album is fucking shit, you managed to fail your mission of not giving a favorable review to a shitty band on your very first post of the entire blog. Can you please go back and re review that piece of shit album and actually bash them, cause that's what it deserves. I promote the fuck out of Texas bands typically but you will never hear me praise Sohns cause they are one of the worst bands involved with screamo/hardcore/punk etc. in our entire state.

Cant say I agree with you. I think its a great album with fresh ideas. Sure, it doesnt fit the standard format of most records I listen to, but thats probably why I like it so much.
My guess as to why you hate it so much is that you think its a "screamo/hardcore/punk" effort. I believe its none of these things. They remind me a lot more of a heavier early At the Drive-in, with guitar and bass work similiar to old Blood Brothers. The high bursts of vocals have a Melt Banana quality.

Its not a hardcore album. Its good in its own way.

I would put Melt Banana, at the drive in, and blood brothers in the same umbrella as screamo/hardcore/punk/etc. But the two of us don't need to agree on genres because even if the new Sohns record is completely separate from hardcore/screao/punk it's still shitty regardless of genre. I actually enjoy some melt banana, the blood brothers, and at the drive in. I guess you're entitled to your opinion but I just wanna let you know that your doing a shit job of bashing shit bands otherwise you would point out the short comings that Sohns has. Also it's a bummer that you think Sohns has anywhere near the musical ability that melt banana, or at the drive in has, both of those bands have great musicianship, Sphns is such a hack job band.

To answer your question Gnarlin I think the dudes in Sohns suck as people and I think their music is complete crap.

And btw, I would like to recant my original statement that I would be bashing shitty bands on this blog.
While there are plenty out there, I just don't have it in me to trash someone else's hard work.
Besides, there are enough good albums out to keep me busy.
