Cheap Way To Ship Records?
Has anyone ever made their own record shipping boxes before, and would like to share some tips? After much Googling, the general consensus seems to be not to make your own boxes, but to buy pre-made ones. The problem is I've only got about 50 records to ship (personal collection), and those boxes seem to be super expensive to buy of the net.

find some clean & sturdy cardboard... alleys are a good place to look.
cut cardboard into a box.
ship media mail.
$$$
just realized you're in ontario, so you don't have media mail.

Go to your local big chain pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.) and ask when they get their weekly shipments in then go back on that day and ask for cardboard. I also suggest buying bubble wrap while you're there. You may pay $6 or $7 for a big roll, but it'll last you for multiple things and you're getting free mailers essentially. Mailman has taken piss poor care of some records that weren't packaged well.

am i the only one on here who thinks its bullshit not to use actual record mailers?? the only times i've ever had records destroyed in the mail were in homemade mailers. i pay money for records, i want them to arrive in my mailbox undamaged.

Agreed. Unless you're seriously beefing up these homemade mailers, legit packages are the way to go. No one wants a busted skull split.
