I don't think there's a single thing wrong with self-promotion. Do what you can to get your music heard because it's something that you love and you're proud of. There's nothing at all wrong with the concept of spreading what you care about to other people.
Speaking on that aspect, I find myself rather baffled by the certain trend taken up by certain bands that has them seeming to avoid exposure to remain "smaller" or "more underground." I feel like if you are playing music that is meaningful to you and it has a message behind it or at least something to be taken from it, you should take the opportunity to put it out there. (to an extent, or as long as your own musical integrity is not being infringed)
shameless self promotion

also don't force upon people. i like to have my music readily available but if i go to a show we're not playing i don't go up to bands and say that i'm in a band and they should check us out unless of course i'm asked.

Exactly. Here, blogs = convenience - substance has lost its importance. I have been contemplating about making a zine for a while though!disposable wrote:it's an argument of substance vs. convenience in the modern age. reminds me of how blogs have taken over and no one takes the time to even write zines anymore.
yeah, and i agree with Sharkboyyy! and VJ. I always feel embarrassed about one of my leadsinger, he tells every fucking band member he meets about our band, like, shite.
We're not using satanic imagery to offend anyone... We're doing it to offend christians.
