Re: Fucking Anime
Anyone actually prefer a lot of the mangas to their anime counterparts? Like, my favourite manga of all time, called BLAME! had an anime made of it that was so thoroughly disappointing. The whole premise of the manga was a bleak cyberpunk future of this guy more or less wandering around immense rotting landscapes, often without a single word being uttered in a whole issue. Needless to say, it did not translate well. Anyone else find that happens (or something similar) with some series?

Kinda surprised at how good Eden of the East was once I started in on it. I wish they'd do an anime series of Ikigami, the manga is fucking phenomenal.

Yeah, that's more or less the issue. You're right, it was a companion, but it just wasn't good. Anyway, to be fair, the manga makes very little sense as well. I had to read it in its entirety about four times to get everything that was going on, but maybe that's just me. Still, if you haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Hyperviolent, moody, incredibly dark... Plus, I'm pretty sure that jap band Killie is named after the protagonist.CitizenOfUlysses wrote:I think the problem with Blame (even though I haven't read/watched it yet, still on my backlog) is that the animated stuff was meant to be complementary to the manga, not a standalone work kind of thing. When taken as a standalone work, I've heard it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.FANTASTIC WOUND wrote:Anyone actually prefer a lot of the mangas to their anime counterparts? I don't have cable so I wasn't able to watch any of it ;_; I don't know if anybody here was part of that era (I was on the ass end of it) but shit man, that's a lot of nostalgia.
