Mediawhore, this is typical but man, I personally think subjecting yourself to this kind of torture is just plain...stupid.

I would say I think some of those guys were pretty much bummed but I don't go out with anyone just because I feel sorry for them. That is just the most counter intuitive thing in the world. I don't even date to see if "it could work out." No. It's just a waste of time. If you don't know what you want in the first place then dating (dating's working definition here is "go out on a date") wouldn't really help you.
Platonic relationship CAN be possible if you're not a slut(man/woman) who would hump anything that moves.

I think friends would work out if both people just laid low for a while. That's what I am trying to do right now.

The good thing about getting older is that this stuff just doesn't happen. I'd start laughing if a girl said this to me now, and she'd have to be significantly younger than me to even say it herself without laughing.. You just end up more honest about things like this, I suppose.

Yeah, sometimes, you just gotta go through with it to see how ridiculous it can be. If you ever want to be a friends with your ex, depending on how close you both were when you were together, wait a looong time before you try to talk to her again. I was told to wait a few months, but, as I would find out to my regret later, my feelings of jealousy would never completely go away no matter how much I lied to myself thinking that they did. We were "friends" about two months after the break up, and things were going alright, I felt, until I found out that she found someone else six months later. It pretty much ripped into me for a long time afterwards.

So a good way to gauge when to become friends is: if you think you're ready to start being friends, wait another year.

Or don't, ever.

My ex-girlfriend is super insecure, constantly needs a security blanket, and got a new boyfriend after days of our break-up.
And wants to be friends. And talks about him and going to clubs with her friends now as if I care.

I'll care once she's whining she has to get that edge tattoo I told her not to get covered up.

NEVER be friends with an ex. Pointless. It will just lead to worse problems down the road. Move on.
