Well keep on keepin on dude, I love Loma Prieta, and I know Bigman and Steven (who are two of the mods on this board) love them too. I love listening to Loma on record, seeing them live and just hanging out with those dudes, cause they are some super nice chaps.pygmyprieta wrote:
My bad I thought this was the drunk thread, looking at it now I recognize a few bands that are definitely current.
Like I'm obviously misinformed here, but I thought most of the board thought loma and other contemporary bands weren't troo or trying to be "too moden" the or something so they liked to diss 'Em.
Loma has a special place in my heart because they were one of my first 2 skramz bands so maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion.
There are quite a lot of good bands out there right now..

ill be honest guys. im kind of sad about the music coming out right now. personally my favorite form of le screamo is dark, either fast or slow badass lyrics but most importantly vampire screech vocals. and not just slamming on the guitar strings in a disorganized manner. females are cool too. but im seeing this trend of more lo-fi emo shit and when i hear something more hardcore then that it turns out to be emo-violence and like way too chaotic for my taste. its hard to hit a sweet spot i guess.
heres some older bands i feel like fit in that vein: toru okada, ladders, rivalries, age 16, suffix, loma, van johnson, arizona pavements, make me, ache emelie.
heres some more recent bands i feel like maintain that style: father figure, choirs, state faults, adventures, and kind of siddartha .
theres also delo which is doing this kind of thing as we speak: http://delossucks.bandcamp.com/
newer bands seem to want to incorperate a post-hardcore sound or whatever you might call it. and if theyre not doing that its way too softcore.
this is how i see it dudes.

Lich are still going. Probably seen therm over 20x by now. In fact I just helped co release a split 5" they did. Pretty sure the other two are going too. Both bands smack it live.ifp wrote:Phil - I got to see Lich and Ressurectionist when I was in the UK two years ago and both were outstanding. Trainwreck toured out here a few years ago and blew me away as well. Are any of those bands still active? I'll check out the rest of those bands you listed.

They're putting out splits with skylark and autarkia soon!Phil wrote:vavavampire wrote: Meandgoliath
Have they released anything since they reformed? I have their old 10" and split 7" and they're both awesome.

It's good to hear Lich is still happening. Those folks were really nice and put on a great show. There were supposed to tour the US a while back with Veloz, but Veloz ended up breaking up before the plans got set.
I heard Trainwreck was on hold for a while because one of the guys was in law school or med school or something similar to that.
