Lets be honest Touche Amore will never be as good as most screamo/hardcore/punk bands. Why pick CTTS to compare them to. I guess if we're just comparing them to random bands I will continue:

Touche Amore will never be as good as Deep Wound
Touche Amore will never be as good as Void
Touche Amore will never be as good as Portraits Of Past
Touche Amore will never be as good as Antioch Arrow
Touche Amore will never be as good as Ground Work
Touche Amore will never be as good as Godflesh
Touche Amore will never be as good as Crass
Touche Amore will never be as good as DRI
Touche Amore will never be as good as Charles Mingus
Touche Amore will never be as good as Dinosaur Jr.
Touche Amore will never be as good as Wilson Phillips
Touche Amore will never be as good as Seige
Touche Amore will never be as good as Tiffany
Touche Amore will never be as good as Fudge Tunnel
Touche Amore will never be as good as Black Flag
Touche Amore will never be as good as Hoover
Touche Amore will never be as good as Napalm Death
Touche Amore will never be as good as Madonna

please do continue this list of bands that Touche Amore will never be as good as

i mean

arguably IHM were the first screamo band by virtue of being the first (?) parody emo band...

but yeah i don't really see them, indian summer, or touche amore as screamo... previous threads arguing about what is or isn't screamo seem to have rubbed a lot of people the long way; it's jsut weird to me that it isn't common knowledge still that, much like IHM, the term itself started as a joke...
not read through the whole thread but, according to the drummer, it's not. i was talking to him and he said that the whole joke thing was just a thing his brother (the main dood) used as like a...i don't know, self defense mechanism, like if anyone said they suck he could just be like nahh man we're only kidding about. god knows.

Same story for Don Martin Three. Regardless, they're one of the best emo bands ever, in my opinion.

"an empty 40, fuller than my life"? come on, that doesn't seem like a joke? i'm sure there were honest impulses but also a dose of humor/parody. "i hate myself"? come fucking on !

I can understand why someone wouldn't be into a particular band, I just don't understand why Touche gets so much armchair quarterbacking on the interwebs. I think they're a decent band in the way that I still like Sum 41 (flame on brothers, flame on) : They are simpler, sure, but it's totally listenable. I like it for what it is, and precisely because it IS catchy. It's infectious, fun, and though some of Jeremy's lyricism makes me go "ooof", I can name a dozen other bands I love where I've thought the same thing.
