I'm not sure if this counts, but last night I had a girl tell me Toru Okada sounded like TBS, and I Hate Myself sounded like The Used when I showed them to her. DISAPREESH.

Not that uncommon. Back in the day when looking like you read Pitchfork was just starting to come into its own, one of those dudes asked a friend of mine what he listened to because he also looked "alternative" and he said hardcore and then he played him some Orchid and the guy said, and I have no reason to believe that this is a lie, "It sounds like Black Flag."

People will say anything to keep from looking like that don't know what they're talking about when it comes to music.
