Rutgers (New Brunswick) has a decent amount of emo and hardcore. The scene up by me (north nj, 15 minutes from nyc) is really shitty and seperate so i don't really know. AFAIK, there really isn't screamo in New Brunswick anymore. Could be wrong though.
