Precisely this. Sorry, JD fanboys. The novelty just wears off in the long run.

i think both bands have humerus vocals depending on the person listening.

honestly Jeromes Dream, and Usurp Synapse are two of my favorite hardcore bands. Hassan I Sabbah and Neil Perry are fucking amazing as well.

cmon man, "novelty"? maybe the story behind his voice, but not the voice itself. both bands are gods.

not novelty for me. not a jeromes dream fanboy, but their music still pleases me more than usurp. JD are more powerful.
literature as masturbatory paraphernalia.

Precisely. The story makes it cool, the coughing up blood story maybe boosts that a bit but I really can't go out of my way to listen to it even if I wanted to based on that alone. I've listened to both bands 372847287428374832748 times and I think I sort of get it. Just not my thing, really. Oddly enough, I could listen to the Spirit of Versailles a lot more but only on their less Donald Duck-y sounding songs like There Goes Rhymin Simon or Unreleased Untitled.

jd vocals are really not that "out there". seems odd that there is so much discussion about them. it was pretty normal when they were around. i really dont know what bands are doing nowadays though.
