Read this a few years ago, got more out of the story than the punch line ahah. Especially sense most people here pronounce lever "leeever" rather than like never.

Brain damage is the answer.
While the punchline isn't funny in itself, it's pretty brilliant in the story. It made me chuckle like hell yesterday when I was explaining it to a friend of mine. I don't know why, but I was laughing like a bitch.
