When I was 10 green day dookie came out, I loved that album.
At 14 years old blink 182 dude ranch came out, I loved that album.
Around 16 years old I found out about the get up kids, this later led me to nogx and saves the day along with the ataris new found glory and alister.
At 17 I got way into braid.
18 was when I started listening to black flag, minor threat, and fugazi. Shortly after that I started listening to Rites of Spring , this band really opened me up to diy hardcore and emo/screamo bands.
At 20 I bought a Lords of Light 7" and an Absinthe 10" I listened to Rites of Spring everyday and was way into the Locust. Later found out about Swing Kids and started going to screamo shows like Zann, Kid Crash and Comadre.

Re: Who was your gateway band?
music in general - tool
I saw the music video for sober at the tender age of like 11 and it freaked the shit out of me, few years later after listening to piles of shitty nu-metal I somehow came across them again and started listening and buying their albums.
skramz - alexisonfire s/t
these guys I guess would be my gateway skramz band. It's not pure skramz, kind of to an extent but it defiantly is heavily influenced and most certainly influenced me on my path to skramz.
