i've heard people say things like "this is the information age, people don't have the attention span for long songs".

might be true. i approach this band for a lyric writing stance and, for me, a song really only has to be long enough for me to say what i have to say. once the idea is expressed there's no need to drag it out further. some ideas only require 30 seconds to express, others, 58 seconds.
