Rochester, NY is a punk rock driven city. Close-minded, bad attitudes, venue destruction and everything in-between. I'm a fan of punk as much as the next dude, trust me But still no screamo is found buried underneath a scene cluttered with trends. But recently a handful of kids including myself have started our own scene out in the suburbs. Fairport, NY to be exact. The scene is driven by basement/house shows that consist of strictly true screamo bands. We have about 10 currently active local screamo bands from the burbs. These bands range from 2 pieces to full set bands. The shows themselves are very fun and have loads of respect. They are growing more and more popular within the entire local scene in general. Rochester has had a very minimal skramz scene if any at all. So I thought I would shed some light on something that I am very proud to be apart of. In due time our scene will hopefully be grounded and completely established with more kids catching on to make some awesome music and to have an awesome time witnessing something as beautiful as true screamo.
