Underrated & Overrated Screamo/Hardcore/Whatever bands 2012

Overrated: Hoax, Crazy Spirit, Culo, ACxDC, Weekend Nachos, Nails

I completely agree, all my friends are super into all these bands and pretty much dropped everything and only listen to hxc punk. Which, don't get me wrong, I love hardcore punk just as much as the next guy; and most te brands do put on a good show, but it's just... Overrated. And now everyone and their mom are starting a punk band, Austin kids just can't get over the punxxx.

Underrated: Nolan from psr, and Steven from init (and everyone that runs a label/distro/whatever, sorry I picked favorites)

Overrated: denim vest with studs and back patches. (even though I own one myself :3)

Sea of Shit is local so they're pretty big here. It's great. I fucking love that band, and I don't listen to much stuff like them.

I tried to track down a record of theirs since every MRR contributor has spent the last year and a half masturbating to them and it was impossible. For a zine that bitches about hype all the time they really create their own very well...

I forgot about them, they put out, what, a half dozen releases this year? And they're all great.

My original list forgot Grinding Halt. Their new stuff just keeps getting meaner and meaner. I think they're even better than Shikari, and I might fight someone over it.

Eh, I meet people all the time who don't even know about freaking Minor Threat or Fugazi, and Versailles is well known to anyone who digs screamo...and yeah, newer bands, hence the 2012.

I'd also like to throw Greys, Congenital Death, Shoppers, D. Vassalotti, Daniel Striped Tiger, Kit Fisto, Systems, and Mahria into the underrated pool.
