Re: Local band thread
san diego.. what else do I need to say
To envision a world without chains but recognize that we,
as individuals, can only chip away at the links.
One at a time, day by day.
To have the ability to wage quiet wars in our everyday lives,
and recognize the subtle victories when they happen....

Re: Local band thread
I didn't know someone already made one before.
But, these guys are from the area where I grew up. They're pretty good friends of mine, and they made post rock/shoegaze stuff.

Listen to Kalkaska off of their new album.

Re: Local band thread
Birmingham, Alabama
http://drivingrange.bandcamp.com/ (Slower Jaw-breaker ish stuff. Depressing lyrics, awesome bass lines, great songs)
http://grandaddyghostlegsplease.bandcamp.com/ (My favorite Birmingham band. Everything amazing about Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana put together with just the right amount of weird)
http://whitesandsmissilerange.bandcamp.com/ (young dudes from the burbs doing an indie post hardcore kind of thing like old Taking Back Sunday and things of that sort)
http://slavepv.bandcamp.com/ (relentless powerviolence. Nothing but loud, nothing but mean)
http://theurns.bandcamp.com/ (FFO: Built to Spill, Jesus and Mary Chain, etc. really 90s influenced alternative indie rock)
http://blackholekids.bandcamp.com/ (crusty screamo with some attention deficit parts)
http://cashlangdon.bandcamp.com/ (16yr old bassist of Driving Range doing some early Elliot Smith sounding stuff. Angry, depressing songs set to the tune of creative guitar playing and lo-fi recordings)

I haven't heard of any of those bands, and I live in the same city as you. The only local band I know of is For Want Of and they aren't even on your list.lick my love pump wrote:moths
