I think most of this music does not sound like how most people think it should/does. That's why all the modern post punk bands either sound like a shitty JD or are started by ex-crusts playing the same song over and over. The coldwave explosion 4 years ago or so was also really fucked (at least for me), so many mean/asshole people playing shitty synth music.

This likely falls in the ex crust category you mentioned, but I love it anyway

YES!

and yeah i know what you mean about the whole post punk "revival" thing(y). a ton of my friends got sucked into that and were blown away by some really lame shit. it was all just cheesy and dancy, not well thought out and, and well just pop. devo and blondie came to town last year, new order tickets are already sold out here too :( even though none of those bands are in their haydays id still love to see them. The Bats are playing here for chaos in tejas, which i think is pretty cool.

All that matters is that you love it. Not to hate on ex-crust goth/post punk because I like it too. I think it was just weird how it worked out that way. Crust goth is so emo. Bellicose Minds rule so much.

I saw The b 52'a once and it was definitely a fun experience.

There are a ton of good modern bands making awesome/weird post punk and goth and no wave and new wave stuff, but I suppose anything could be good if you give it a try. I really dig Dollchimes/The Victoriana, His Electro Blue Voice, 51D, Kindest Lines, Rosenkopf, and even Bermuda Triangles are super good. I don't know. I'm dumb. I like shitty music.

new local stuff, kinda surprised there isnt more of this coming from my city. this is a two piece, amelia and rusty kelly from Toru Okada. hes done a few bands since his TO but nothing really like this. its been stuck in my head since i heard this track, not the most original but its catchy and i like it.
