To envision a world without chains but recognize that we,
as individuals, can only chip away at the links.
One at a time, day by day.
To have the ability to wage quiet wars in our everyday lives,
and recognize the subtle victories when they happen....

It took 6 seasons for dr who to get really hyped, it had to work hard for it. It has superior writing to 90% of other television, great characters, and inconventional plot lines that would never work in hollywood. Dr who is actually amazing. I am not an entry level sci-fi fan either. I'm 29 and have been reading insane amounts of sci-fi and watching insane amounts of it as well since I was 13. There is not a better sci-fi tv show.
yeah some of dr. who is corny but for every corny thing that happens in dr. who there is something extremely bleak or dark or depressing to level it out. The fact that it has complex over-arcing story lines that conclude, at the most every two seasons, means its the only tv show written almost the same way as comic books, which is awesome to me.
La dispute on the other is unadulterated garbage, basically me without you for non-christians. So this post kind of bums me out.

I'm really glad this post exists.
I've been out of the scene for something like a decade and am just now coming back to it and figuring out what's what and who's who and whatever. Had never heard of La Dispute before and was stoked Envy was in town playing a show...but they were opening for La Dispute. I checked out La Dispute prior to the show and genuinely liked what I heard (hate me). Their Pandora station played a bunch of hardcore bands I really liked too.
When I got to the show, there was a line out the door for La Dispute merch...and literally NO ONE in line for the Envy table. And it seemed like everyone that was there for La Dispute were immature 16 year old girls with blue hair or some shit. So then I started feeling kind of weird...like, is this what's happened to the screamo scene??
So, I was actually about to start a thread about wtf is up with La Dispute and their general fan base, but now I don't have to.
