I'm amazed how much this feels like a music video made in 1999. I don't know how they reproduced that feeling so well! I think maybe we should all go back to simple gsm phones and Polaroids..... maybe even windows 98

never cared for American football either. I find it super generic for some reasonCpt9Ball wrote:Maybe it's because I never cared too much for American Football, but that video was terribly cliche. Not necessarily bad, just cliche.

I've seen people at show recently using Polaroid cameras two things the issue here.
1. So you take the photo. It develops then and there. But you want to share this really cool photo with all your friends! So you whip out your camera phone and take a photo...of the photo. You have your phone with you! With image capturing capabilities! and access to hundreds of image filtering apps that can replicate a Polaroid.
2. Polaroid film is harmful to the environment and if you use it you are a criminal.
DIE HIPSTER SCUM!

It was really cliche. I think it fit the song really well, though. Then again, I'm a rabid AF fan.Cpt9Ball wrote:that video was terribly cliche. Not necessarily bad, just cliche.
Meh. I'd just take the opportunity to have some people over and show them my photos. Impractical, but you get to actually... spend time with real people.CharlieBronson wrote:So you take the photo. I do use my iPhone (hyprocritical, I know) in conjunction with vscocam to take photos, but I much prefer film. 35mm and 110 particularly. I use it sparingly so it doesn't have as much of an environmental impact as it could if I used it like digital. It's taught me to slow down and think more about what I'm shooting. And eventually I have to just put away the camera and "be there", which is nice.

yeah, I saw it. kind of cool how people are still buying the record and are into this band. it's my favourite song by them, too.

I agree that the video feels kinda cliche, but that's alright for me. It has pretty much everything you'd expect from a music video for this song. For example the house from the artwork.

This was my first time ever hearing American Football. During the early 00's I never really crossed paths with them at all.
My thoughts here:
- I suppose this band was very influential on this whole new wave of twinkle daddy bands, judging by the guitar and vocal delivery. Though, I must say this seemed more well executed from a musical and vocal perspective than most of the newer bands that I've heard do this style.
- I want to hate the video because of it's by-the-book hipster nonsense, but it's shot beautifully and tells a story pretty well. The mood of the music is captured well and I can't deny I was invested in it.
