i think "the wave" is definitely over. i don't really hear about kids talking about that style anymore or dressing like topshelf worshipers ( and in michigan, we had a whole heap of them)

so yeah, it's safe to say the wave is over. on the dunzo list.

from what i've noticed, people have been all about nu-metal lately... slipknot, korn, etc..

like yeah they have some pretty heavy riffs but most of their music is garb.

The break up or members leaving from a lot of wave bands.

The decline of popularity of topshelf, deathwish, no sleep and so far no new labels trying to bring screamo to the mass market.

Less bandwagon screamo fans.

The lack of activity on this forum.

etc?

While we wait for the next wave to reach the kids, check out this sweet $60 varsity jacket

New York Here.
The only people I see that know about skramz are online nowadays. IRL I don't really see anyone.

I have some friends who are into straight hardcore punk and some into post hardcore like Dance Gavin Dance. Hell I see a few mallcore kiddies around occasionally. There are some people even wearing nu-metal stuff as well. However, not a single one into skramz.

I do see a some shitty post hardcore fans that like pierce the veil though.

Screamo is pretty popular in Austin right now, and in Texas in general.

I went to a La Dispute show yesterday. I participated in keeping the wave alive. I feel dirty.

Forgive me my sins, O Bigmin; forgive me the sins of my youth and the sins of mine age, the sins of my soul and the sins of my body, my secret and my whispering sins, the sins I have done to please myself and the sins I have done to please others. Forgive those sins which I know, and the sins which I know not; forgive them, O Bigmin, forgive them all of Thy great goodness. Amen

In New Jersey it's almost like there's DIY and then the 'top 40 hardcore' stuff. The screamy bands fall under DIY so by default we end up playing with any other band that's DIY; whether they be post rock, grind, etc.

The formation of wave bands completely missed New Jersey though. Which is pretty cool.
