Might give this a try, if it actually is good as the people here say it is. I gave up on Turn based strategies because of my small attention span. I loved the first two Civilizations though.
literature as masturbatory paraphernalia.
Re: so how fucking great is Civilization V?
I like tbs more than rts. rts has action and suspension, but it relies to heavily on reacting fast. the player with the most apm is the best one. and in 99% of those games there is a formula; a correct way of doing things. so you need to learn that and execute it flawlessly in an as short time span as possible.
with tbs it's just raw strategy. there is no right and wrong. just multiple ways of doing things. you also need to react to other players and the environment much more than you have to in rts games. there's just a whole lot more diversity to be offered.
so if you want action/thriller and don't have an attention span: probably best if you don't waste your time on this game. it's no James Bond film.

Re: so how fucking great is Civilization V?
I haven't played IV, so I just bough that real cheap (about $10 with all expansion packs). I'll be deleting my illegal copy of civ5, playing the shit out of civ4, and then buy civ5. hopefully it will be cheap by then. :-)
