i prefer indie rock like elliott smith/gregory and the hawk. i don't think people generally consider that folk, right?

I love This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb, their lyrics are awesome!

I also like some japanese folk like Kan Mikami, Kazuki Tomokawa and Agata Morio, they sound extremely sad.

Folk punk is all good I'll try to talk about some of LA's folk (including folk punk) stuff; but for now...
I've been rocking these mp3's lately, I don't know what it is, maybe because the songs are all about isolation and trying to fit in but in a weird old timey kind of way that I can't understand even if I tried:

Not all of it is folk, but a large majority of it is folky. I guess the concept is supposed to be 'folk songs from around the world but made in America', or something like that.
