What tuning do you guys use in your bands? Anyone prefer drop tunings over standard tunings?

last 2 bands i've played in were in drop c#. current one played in C for a while but it was sounding too muddy. I write most of my stuff in B though...

Depends on what I want to play,

I keep my acoustic tuned down a half step

Standard tuning on electric for the most part, sometimes I'll fuck around with Drop C.

I employ a slightly out of tune standard tuning because I can't tune + I trash it + I don't tune especially often

Standard tuning
for acoustic guitar I tend to use the F A C G C E tuning a lot

In Alenah we play in Drop D, in my other The Chariot-ish band we play in Drop C. I like drop B a ton too.

Old band used Drop D and standard. In my new band we've written 2 songs in open F but I always keep my bass in standard unless I need to go lower.

Interesting. I used to tune in Drop D while playing electric because I loved the freedom it enabled (I'm thinking of Saetia's "Notres Langues Nous Trompent"), in that I could easily access a power chord and hit some dissonance in the higher register, but standard is definitely where it's at right now. I know shit-all about musical theory or notation, but I've found that I'll come up with some more intriguing mistakes when I'll flub something in standard

Anyone screwed around with timbre or done something unconventional?
