can anyone recommend good new wave euro horror? really into that right now. martyrs quickly became one of my favourite movies ever

also: antichrist was amazing. i really don't get why people hate it. if all you took away from the movie was the "she's a psycho" plot-line, you're really missing out

I don't think many people hated it because of the simple (at face value, because I personally found it saturated with metaphor) plot line, just the unnecessary shock scenes thrown in. Seriously, I enjoyed the visuals but they could have toned it down a lot and it still would have been awesome. That and the almost painfully slow pace at times were my only gripes with it.

i don't think any of the scenes were unnecessary? sex was a major theme throughout the film (if not the very point of the movie) and i think all of the "gross" parts were really well executed. if it made you uncomfortable, then i'd argue it succeeded in what it set out to do: the whole movie is uncomfortable, even barring the cronenberg-esque body horror. i like that a movie can challenge its audience. not all art should be easy to enjoy.

i'm not saying everyone has to like the movie, but pretty much everyone i've heard say that "it sucked" (i.e. objectively) are people who just aren't into that sort of thing in the first place.

The last movie I watched was Night of the Comet. Someone/s recommend stuff in a similar vein.

Also, I haven't seen Antichrist yet and only because I'm grossed out by sex. Thank you very much.

Watched some of this last night, will finish sometime today. Super awesome dystopian flick, literally what you watch when you go to heaven:

mirin 5th element watch.

For ultimate skramz watch Luc Besson's "Le Dernier Combat" (same director as fifth element)

On it big!

also not quite a movie but Twelve Monkeys is coming to the small screen on Syfy. Fingers crossed its as good as Gilliams classic.

And Dallas Buyers Club was pretty well done. Leto earned that Oscar IMO.
