Xbox games on my Xbox 360

My Xbox doesn't work; I try to play my Xbox games on my Xbox 360. I pop it in the 360. It says that I need some Original Xbox Game Support. So, I follow every instruction to the letter on makingan Update disc. It completes. I pop the CD in, and the 360 says it's an unreadable disc.Is there something wrong the Xbox? Should I take it back to GameStop? What in the hell is wrong? Please answer me.
