DUDE JAPAN "TEENAGE SUMMER EP" 7 INCH LATHE OUT NOW!!

This was certainly worth the wait and hats off to John and Keenan at Single Piece Slate for turning these fine lathe cut records out amidst all the stuff they have going. Best of luck in Athens you two! Originally issued as limited cd-r in March of 2009, DUDE JAPAN's demo the "Teenage Summer EP" is available once again but this time as a ultra limited lathe cut 7 inch. Unlike, most lathe cut records which use materials that cause the audio to deteriorate severely over time Single Piece Slate uses high quality polycarbonate and are cut with a diamond stylus to make very permanent records that will NOT wear out after repeated play so you can purchase with confidence. Due to the very limited nature of these records as well as the high costs involved making the records, covers, packing material, shipping and Paypal fees; unfortunately these records will have to be priced at $10 PPD (in the US). Each 7 inch has hand stamped labels, and is packed in a beautiful full color and numbered fold over sleeve as well as a digital download card. Please be aware that this 7 inch only has the material from the original 4 song cd-r and does NOT include the 3 bonus tracks which are still exclusive to the cassette version on DEAD BROKE RECORDS. Stream the "Teenage Summer EP" here:

In DUDE JAPAN related news they also just finished the mixing to their upcoming full length album "The Things That Matter..." which will be released as a cd in February on Rok Lok Records and also on cassette courtesy of Rok Lok and Keep It Together Records. You can check out two tunes from the album, "Raft Captain" and "Last Call For Nowville" here: http://roklokrecords.bandcamp.com/album ... hat-matter
"I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT POP" TAPE COMP ALMOST GONE
I am down to like 10 copies of the "I Know Why They Call It Pop" cassette compilation. Thanks to everyone for their great response to this project, and it certainly won't be the last of its kind to make an appearance in the Rok Lok discography. It was an absolute joy putting the whole project together and getting to have so many great artists all on one compilation. It was an absolute thrill and I look forward to doing it again sometime soon. Stream "I KNOW WHY THEY CALL IT POP" here: http://roklokrecords.bandcamp.com/album ... all-it-pop
SANDY CITY "SURFIN' WA" ONE SIDED 12 INCH ALMOST DONE. FOR REAL.
SANDY CITY's "Surfin' WA" is almost here. For real. This amazing record has been held hostage by me for a year and finally it is in physical production and will be available for in a short matter of time. The covers were printed up and arrived a couple of months ago. And the vinyl is finally in production which shortly after the test presses are approved, the finished records will be sent to the band to have their naked b-sides be wonderfully silk screened before heading back to the east coast so I can finally make "Surfn' WA" available for all. This one sided screened 12 inch is limited to 300 pieces and is packed in a fold over sleeve and comes with a insert. SANDY CITY's"Surfin' WA" was originally released as a cassette on the Foxpop Recording Company label and has gone on to release the "Nice Hate" 7 inch on Party Nggg as well as limited lathe cut 7 inch as part of Lost Sound Tapes lathe cut subscription series. All of it is great, and if you dig lo fi indie pop/surf punk in the vein of Eric's Trip, Cause Co-Motion, Husker Du, and Crayon/early Tullycraft than you'll absolutely loose your mind over this 12 inch.

UPCOMING RELEASES:
Here is a run down of some of the stuff cooking for the next few months here at Rok Lok:
-SANDY CITY "Surfin' WA" one sided 12 inch (see above)
-YES SENSEI "In Excelsis" cd (fourth/last album. Noisy post punk 'ala Unwound, Sonic Youth, Polvo, The Ex, etc)
-STARS ARE INSANE "A Plan...A Perfect Disaster" cd-r (quiet, subtle bedroom folk/shoegaze hybrid. For fans of Dump, Sentridoh, Red House Painters, etc.)
-DEEP POCKETS TBA cassette (Pavement/Silkworm-esque indie rock with members of Everything Sucks and Thought & Memory)
-DUDE JAPAN "The Things That Matter..." cd/cassette (buzzing guitar indie rock in the vein of Superchunk, Velocity Girl, Further, Built to Spill, etc)
-STARS ARE INSANE "Partial History" cd-r (a "best of" selection spanning the five out of print albums and some unreleased material)
-BRICK MOWER 7 inch (Insanely hooky indie punk rock from New Jersey. File under Superchunk, New Sweet Breath, Husker Du, Fluf, etc)
...and whole lot more!!! 2011 will without doubt be the busiest release schedule in the label's entire history. A huge focus will be on small press runs of lathe cut records, cassettes, short run cds, and cd-rs.
