If I read this in my voice it makes me take it seriously, if i read it in his it sounds like an 8 year old arguing over teatherball rules. The fact is pretentiousness and elitism is going to stick around no matter what, someone's gotta be the know-it-all jerk-off. Despite the fact that I agree with him, someone's still going to use the word "skramz" and sound like a geek, who cares? There is a level of douche-baggery that comes with the elitism and pretentiousness that surrounds the screamo genre. This is the point where I contradict myself by informing the tumblr world that I have always and will always refuse to use the word “skramz”. I understand the genesis of the word being born because the term “Screamo” got misrepresented so badly (see: Warped Tour circa 2002-present)… but I look at it the way Michael Bolton from Office Space looks at it: “Why should I have to change my name, he’s the one who sucks”.

You may be asking, “What pretentiousness and elitism?”

Answer) The genre game. This is the game played by mouth breathers with an internet connection and a record collection that have nothing better to do than try to prove their knowledge by shoving their opinions on what kind of bands they never saw are.

“What?! you idiot! that band is emo-violence”… “Fuck you dude, they were melodic punk”… “yeah right, they invented skramz”

You are not better than anyway, and you are not going to impress anyone. You just look like a dickhole. Now go outside and make a friend, chances are you need one.

My personal though on arguments/discussions/debates as a whole is that there is only one reason that you would resort to making name calling, or personal attacks (that don't relate to the topic), and that is that you truly do not have enough evidence to support your claim. If you ignore everything aside from the first paragraph he actually seems to be introducing a valid point, but instead of actually elaborating he called people dickholes.

Also, the first sentence is kind of hillarious in its contradiction to the rest of it. "I'm sick of elitism and pretentiousness, you should all do what I do."
