lemyisgod wrote:In my opinion an amp makes the biggest difference. Instead of getting a new pedal I would invest that money in a better amp. You can make any guitar sound good with a good amp. Look for something in the Fender amps category to get Trei's sound something with Tubes not Solid State. Something like a Fender Pro Jr.
Basically this. 70's tube amps that are loud clean and are used alot. Mainly since they don't sound too bad, and they used to be unanimously ignored by the majority of guitar weenies looking for teh tonz (which kept the prices down). However they have been going up in price as people dig their heads out of their asses... Silverface fender or 70's ampeg is seriously good amplification for much less than most good tube Amps cost. Then through an OCD on it and your good to go.

If you really wanna get nerdy down the line, upgrade your guitars pickups. The stock cp pickups aren't bad but there are much better to choose from out there. There are some good custom winders here. In the us and there are even some in the UK that o jazzmaster stuff... Not sure about the rest of the EU.

As a tone weenie who wants to revive an old thread for no reason.

Go used, all tube. 50-100 watts.

Ampeg V4, Mig 50/60/100, Musicman,Traynor e t c

If you start with a nice clean base, you can use pedals to get the tone you want.

No reason needed. This is my favorite thread.

I'm going threw a gear crisis right now. I have a AC30 that I want to get rid of Im stuck between getting a JCM800 clone or a Fender Super Reverb.Totally different amps. Plus I dont have any money so Im going to have to sell the AC30 up front and then sit without an amp for awhile.

Why would you ever get rid of an AC30? Heavenly amp

Because the AC30 has zero Bass response. I could hook it up to a closed back cab and it will sound Bassier but at this point I want something else.

I completely agree with you on that, but that's what bass is for!

Wait wait, Silvertone is actually GOOD? Every Silvertone guitar I've ever played was absolute garbage.
