Re: Moviechat Thread
just watched scott pilgrim finally....
every indie cliche stuffed into one movie? yes.
but i still enjoyed the whole plot, so whatever.
plus it's stylistically and visually interesting and awesome.
overall it was pretty fun. maybe for a certain sensibility? video game nerds would probably "get it"
and maybe psuedo-hipster "indie" type cliche shit...?
i enjoyed all the toronto stuff. it's kind of cool seeing the places i frequent in a big movie like that...
fair warning: that pizza pizza at bloor and bathurst across from honest ed's is the worst location ever. get sick every time and shit slow service. also don't go to pizza pizza regardless.
sonic boom (the record store) is cool though. check that out if in town.

But seriously, read the books. They are AMAZING. and super funneh. And the movie does a GREAT job in adapting them, but ya still gotta read the original
i definitely felt like reading them after watching the movie... just gotta finish the book i'm on... (i'm surprised i'm reading at all?)
it was funny listening to the commentary track on the movie because they talk about developing the movie before the books were finished and somewhat stealing some ideas off each other even. interesting to have a bit of that influence?
but really enjoyed the movie, and psyched to read the comics...
i think the best part of it was how as much as it was fantasy, it still felt very grounded and real in a weird way? the places and sort of general sentiments and relationships, and the way things look in the movie... they were right to really put it in a real place (and it spoke well to me knowing them personally?) just good craic.
