Alcest is hipster black metal? does this mean that shoegaze = hipster black metal? I'm confused. Alcest rule in any event.

I know I love Alcest, but I saw some guys calling Alcest hipster on last.fm and youtube. Since then the word "hipster" has also popped up on BM discussion time to time. I stopped listening to BM for around a year, so I know I have a lot to catch up on. For serious...how the fuck?

It's quite common in America to see people into 18th wave black metal for ironic/trendy purposes.

Alcest are fine.

Hipsters came up when folk started namedropping obvious and only obvious bands, mostly shitty ones. I'm split between throwing you guys a bone and recommending shit and begging for this thread to be deleted. Such a waste of time.
there is no happy here

I like how the last few pages have become (as I said earlier) pretty much a perfect accidental parody/copy of every black metal thread on a non-black metal board, so it isn't getting deleted purely for comedy purposes.

Not perfect, a perfect one needs more drama on dimmu borgir being black metal or not

I hope this thread is a foretelling of the future of CMHWAK 2.0

I have never heard Wolves in the Throne Room, or whatever their name is, but I have picked up on them being controversial in some way or the other. meaning: people go out of their way to bash them, or to pronounce how much they don't care about them. maybe I'll check them sometime.
