might give Hoover another try since I really dig Shoulder and they are apparently influenced by Hoover

the 5 track self titled by hoover i've been jamming has been treating me really well, it actually has got me coming back to http://www.dischord.com/bands for new old tunes. its awesome to see how fugazi, minorthreat and the like influenced a lot of the 90's releases coming out of that label. musical >< dissonance >< lyrical substance

shit, and even deftones covered a jawbox song on their covers album (which i still need to check out)

it took me awhile to get into the saddest landscape, which is a bummer because they rule.

sabertooth zombie also took me awhile to get into but once i heard midnight venom it instantly became one of my favorite albums ever

Hoover is the best, truest of emo. Minor Threat is way to much of a classic to not get stoked on. Mind Eraser is cool and I've kinda slept on them but I'm always gonna be more into Iron Lung and Hatred Surge.

geez! i really expected someone to dis me and then i was gonna be all, "no, i seriously meant the band called 'my comic genius'. they recorded their only demo on 8-track tapes in a bombed-out hospital in estonia in 1994 and they sound EXACTLY like september mixed with in loving memory if they were also really into talking heads. they only made twelve copies of the demo and the only thing on the insert is a grainy high-contrast photo of a little girl silkscreened in the bassist's blood." or something.

anyway... i don't really even know how to seriously answer this question! i don't really keep up with new music and i am constantly discovering old bands and artists that are great that i didn't know about. ( the beauty of last.fm.)

so i kind of mostly "sleep on" everything and then pick through the flotsam and jetsam of online musical info as my tastes evolve. i guess one thing i "slept on" and discovered recently and am pretty into now is sparrows swarm and sing (although i guess they're not even that old?) i also checked out tipping canoe for the first time recently and they are pretty sweet.

you must look within your heart my wayward son, that is where the true gold is to be found, not on ebay!
