You realize of course that's not my point. None of the members of мища are even Russian, so it has nothing to do with speaking the language. I promote learning and speaking as many languages as possible, in fact I write songs in my screamo band that specifically calls for holding onto cultural identity and rejecting assimilation into American culture. I spent years in college learning a language (Czech) that only about 10 million other people in the world speak.
Honestly if мища was Russian and was way into promoting awareness of Russian cultural identity I would be okay with them using that name, but thats not the case, they are co opting something that they have nothing to do with into the void that is American culture. I also dislike how hippies casually use terms like karma and and like to scratch the surface of other Hindu and Yogi beliefs. It's casual, pretentious and is ultimately a bit mis leading.
If you want to spend years learning the Cyrillic alphabet and all the cases that Slavic languages have along with all the other nuances that Slavic languages have then I might feel compelled to be okay with you naming your band a Russian name, until then you are a tourist in the Slavic language family and it bums me the hell out.

So you have to do extra work to find out information about them, if they used a Latin alphabet when choosing a name this wouldn't be a problem. Once again I don't know the Cyrillic alphabet don't have a Cyrillic keyboard. Using a Cyrillic alphabet is the equivalent to using symbols like witch house bands do like, †‡† (Ritualz), it's dumb as hell. First find the key, then go to the gatekeeper, if you know the 73 word pass code and the secret hand shake you can then enter the first door , you will then enter a room where there are 3 doors. Behind one door are man eating lions, behind another is a pit of fire and behind the other is the only computer in the world where you can search for information about some band from Maryland.
