Most all of this stuff is second wave and third wave emo stuff. With the exception of Drive Like Jehu, Embrace, Fugazi, and Rites of Spring.
It's like making a best ska songs list and mainly including second and third wave ska bands like The Specials, Operation Ivy, and Reel Big Fish.
DUMB
I wanna see a list of the top 100 first wave emo bands.
top 100 emo songs

You guys are both right, more or less, but it doesn't matter. We know this is shit, but it's not going to stop the masses of clueless "music journalists" trying to sound edgy and cool by saying "Herp, derp, Get Up Kids are emo!" He's just trying to get his dick sucked by a homely girl in glasses he likes.thebigmin wrote:there is not one real emo band on this list
The thing I don't like about these lists is that very attempt to be edgy and knowledgeable. Fuck it man, you and a bunch of other dweebs had this idea, and ran it into the ground so much that putting out a list like this now is meaningless and gets you nothing but laughs. Not even laughs for what's on the list, but for doing it in the first place.
Personally, I can't wait for one of these guys to really be edgy and knowledgeable and compile a list of the 100 best early rock and roll songs recorded by a white artist trying to be black. I don't mean in that whole "Elvis stole rock from black people" bullshit, but literally guys trying to sound black on tape, wrote songs about what they thought a black audience would like, showed up to their live shows in blackface, and all that.
