i've never seen the english version, but the original was quite the tearjerker. i thought it was way more depressing than grave of the fireflies, though. but anyway, why would you watch an english dubbed anime in a japanese class? that seems a little odd haha.

I get the feeling that most skram kids, when they do watch chinese cartoons, drift more towards 90s shit. Good list, brah.

the best kinds of anime come out of the 80s/90s in my opinion. And for some reason ive always mentally connected skramz with the good kinds of anime, maybe because both are so melodramatic. The kid in Evangelion is the skramest guy ever, always questioning himself, crying, etc. moody moody guy. Another thing i noticed is the only other people i know who listen to any screamo/whatever have also loved this type of anime. Every anime ive watched with another person has been with someone who also experianced the skramz phase, at least in highschool.

I dont know if im a fan or not, I feel like i dont like it because its anime, that just happens to be the medium for a ton of really awesome movies/series and it works
