I'd like to break down this expression. Mike hates Tom. I can only assume some of his hatred is derived from his feelings that Tom hates fun. I can then only assume that Mike very much so likes fun, and it's because he doesn't understand Tom's disinterest in fun that he fears Tom and thus hates him. I think this fear driven hate is important to discuss, because I think it's the fear of "the other" that drives most of hate in the world. Maybe if Tom could let Mike know his feelings on fun and why he likes or dislikes fun they could better understand each other and Mike's fear driven hate would end in this situation.mike stern wrote:i fucking hate this kid. he hates fun. why dont you get off cmhwak and go join like a church you faggot.
Mike feels like cmhwak should be a safe haven for fun lovers and others who support the love of fun. Since Mike feel like Tom falls into neither of the categories of people he feels should be part of cmhwak he has asked Tom why he even comes to this place that Mike sees as a safe haven for fun. I find this to be an exclusionary situation, where Mike wants to drive away and segregate the people he doesn't understand and thus hates.
Mike asks Tom to join a church, one can assume this is because Mike feels like Churches tolerate the type of people that are not supporters of fun. I guess what Mike doesn't realize about Churches, is that they typically are groups of people with a similar religious belief in common, with each other. He may be confused on the common held definition of Church, because he seems to think it is a place where anti-fun groups meet instead of worship groups meet. It may be possible that Mike doesn't find Church to be fun and thus believes that it is a place that no one finds fun, but this is not the case, many people who attend church are full of joy and have alot of fun at these gatherings, in fact I would say many fun supporters are church goers, and if Mike Stern were to know that, he himself may be interested in joining a church to meet more fun supporters, and even possibly fun supporters that will fight for segregation of anti-fun supporters.
I'm not sure what to make of the last word, other than that Mike knows Tom well and Tom has confided in him what his sexual orientation is or that Tom is a very public person and has divulged his sexual orientation to enough people that it is public information that Mike is privy to. Of course there is the possibility that Mike is guessing or assuming Tom's sexual orientation and is wrong on this matter. Mike uses what many would describe as a derogatory word that describes ones sexual orientation, one can assume that Mike hates homosexuals and that is why he uses a derogatory word rather that the more common adjective gay, or homosexual.
The near perfect symmetry of commonly held "potty mouth" or "cuss" words used near the beginning of Mikes statement "fucking" and at the end of Mikes "faggot" can only provide us with more evidence of Mikes dislike of Tom, and Mike's perceived image of Tom. I feel like starting a statement of with dirty words and ending it the same allows the readership on cmhwak to really understand that Mike is not so much for painting a full picture of his feelings for us but would rather, or is only capable of using the most crass of language to get his feelings across.
