Underrated & Overrated Screamo/Hardcore/Whatever bands 2012

I used to play bass in dads when they first formed. I'd never touch a bass before I was in the band, but when we started it was supposed to just be a fun time band. Those dudes were my best friends for a long time. When shit started to get serious and they got serious show offers, they told me I wasn't keeping up with them and it'd be best if I left the band, which I can live with because it was true. But I was in a really rough spot in my life and I remembered telling John how important the band was to me. They kicked me out of the band a week before we were supposed to leave for a tour I helped book. I was told I wasn't going on tour even just as a friend by a drunk John at 2 am because they didn't have enough room, then they took Scott's girlfriend with them...

I follow you on Tumblr and I remember reading about that and I always thought they were dickheads because of it.

Yeah dude, they really hit below the belt, and continued to talk shit about me. I lost a lot of friends because of them.

Underrated: Book of Caverns, Tempest, Shahman, Todos Caeran, pretty much all the rad Canadian bands that are never mentioned

Overrated: Topshelf. Everyone has said this to some extent, but seriously... The stuff that label puts out for the most part is boring and painful to listen to.

Side note: I am honored that cmhwak thinks my band is overrated, let alone even knowing who we are

It's kind of a bummer how separate the US and Canadian scenes are. I mean I love seeing you guys, all the other sick Edmonton bands, and any others that happen to come out here like Animal Faces and Tel Fyr (Morrowind skram will never not be the coolest fucking thing ever) but it would be cool to see more US bands as well.

Also I'm adding snic to underrated because I seriously think they were one of the greatest post-hardcore bands ever but I'm sure no one outside edmonton has heard of them and I've been trying for like a year and a half to find their albums.
