i know these guys they're pretty heavy. damn I dig this.
To envision a world without chains but recognize that we,
as individuals, can only chip away at the links.
One at a time, day by day.
To have the ability to wage quiet wars in our everyday lives,
and recognize the subtle victories when they happen....

i'm sorry you feel this way man. i get more out of writing these songs and these words than i ever have gotten out of talking with friends and family or therapists, that's the only reason i write them. i guess that is sick and i guess that's selfish of me, but it works and it's what's kept me alive. i'm sorry if you felt victimized by them. It was probably wrong of me to post the lyrics. I apologize.plasticsmilerecords wrote:If you can "relate" to wanting to commit suicide or wanting to die, then you should probably get some help my friend. I'm being 100% serious. Seek out some friends or your family. Suicide and depression are not a joke and some shitty screamo band shouldn't be singing about this. Even if it is some kind of sick way to help them cope with their daily lives. When I see bands singing about pulling the plug it really upsets me. I've lost and have almost lost people from them committing suicide or attempting to. It's one of the hardest things to live with. It's fucking paralyzing. Nobody should wish themselves dead.
This band can go fuck themselves.

On the topic of me relating to the lyrics, sometimes its good to know that someone is going through the same shit. Family only helps to an extent. I can understand your troubles, but telling me to "get some help" sucks and doesn't "help" me at all.parkerlawson wrote:i'm sorry you feel this way man. i get more out of writing these songs and these words than i ever have gotten out of talking with friends and family or therapists, that's the only reason i write them. i guess that is sick and i guess that's selfish of me, but it works and it's what's kept me alive. i'm sorry if you felt victimized by them. You don't have to apologize. I was just stating my opinion. It's the Internet man. Sorry if I came off like a dick, but topics like this are sensitive topics to some people. You can write and do whatever you want. It's art.parkerlawson wrote:i'm sorry you feel this way man. i get more out of writing these songs and these words than i ever have gotten out of talking with friends and family or therapists, that's the only reason i write them. i guess that is sick and i guess that's selfish of me, but it works and it's what's kept me alive. i'm sorry if you felt victimized by them. I understand and i agree. it just bums me out when I upset or offend people, and I'm sorry I did.plasticsmilerecords wrote: You don't have to apologize. I was just stating my opinion. Don't be sorry, he has the right to be offended and you also have to realize there are probably people who can really relate to your lyrics as well, and for a lot of people it's probably not a negative thing. I can relate to them because of things that have happened earlier in my life, and as grievingmass said, sometimes it's good to hear that other people have felt the same way. It's not like the lyrics are glorifying suicide, they're just honest expression.parkerlawson wrote:I understand and i agree. it just bums me out when I upset or offend people, and I'm sorry I did.plasticsmilerecords wrote: You don't have to apologize. Also just a quick edit to say that the lyrics to death is my way out are intensely relatable for me, that song is about a very real fear that I still have, I've never seen someone explain it so concisely.
