Japanese Screamo/Hardcore/Emo Zine + Comp

Post by ryanmurakami »

Hey guys,
I just finished the first issue of my zine focusing on Japanese underground bands.
The issue features an interview with Tetola93, who sound like Louise Cyphre mixed with Killie, a Tokyo Show Report, Live photos, Best of 2012, and a bunch of reviews.
In addition, each issue comes with a download code for the BTSS Sampler Vol. 1 with these bands:
Tetola93
Elica
Saisa
The Sunsetboulevard
Midnight Parade
Alt of the Society
Stubborn Father
The Cops Are Inside Us
Bacho
Blue Friend

You can check it all out here. And order one if you're interested.

Thanks!

Stoked on this. I lived in okinawa for 3 years and was involved in the scene there.

Nice! The Cops Are Inside Us are on the sampler, and the next issue will have an interview with them. What bands did you hang out with?

How did Japan reach screamo? The only way I can think of is through the interwebz as I did (I'm from Argentina) but the japanese side of internet is so obscure and is so distant from ours, westerner's.
This is certainly interesting to me, Gauge Means Nothing and Nitro Mega Prayer were awesome.

have you guys heard MaleGoat? people on last.fm tag them jap'n jazz haha. they are fucking amazing! so worth checking out seriously. its a terrible band name but such an epic band. i'm sure it sounds cooler in japanese. i guess they would be more in the vein of the cap'n jazz instrumentation but with very strained emotional lyrics. whatever they are saying in japanese is very heartfelt. Dl their shit it won't disappoint.

dude have you never heard endzweck? they are seriously so fucking amazing. they are labeled like fucking hardcore. but the screamy vocals and catchy guitar remind me more of screamy ass emo. they've been around since early 2000s. also there is envy. they were def japanese.
