word, i understand that most people are unhappy with their lives, it would be cool if playing music no one likes was a good idea. if it was i'd be rich. in middle school i thought being a lawyer would be awesome then i found out you had to make good grades for that, or any other cool job, ever since then i didn't have any initiative to do good in school (i already wasn't the best student), and now that i'm a little bit more grown up i have to worry about not getting into college due to the fact that i just half assed my way through high school and didn't care about my grades. its pretty lame. its not really like my situation is different though, i guess plenty of people can get into school with grades like mine so i probably shouldn't worry about this too much

btw my dumb ass came up with this idea after smoking lots of pot... so as you can see that can take you awesome places

I agree with Matt about everything except his outlook on college. College is not some sort of cost/benefit analysis. You're not paying for a piece of paper to get you more money at a job. This is pure "union job" mentality nonsense. If you know what you want to do, just do it. Why go to college at all?

College is a purely academic pursuit, and you can do pretty much any job that only requires a Bachelor's with a Bachelor's in anything. The only exceptions to this would be highly technical or "professional" type degrees, and if you're getting one of them, odds are you actually want to do that.

If you're really dead-set on going to college "for some reason" or just to get a better paying job that you have no real passion for, go to some degree mill, or an online school, or a for-profit school, or some other bullshit like that. No offense, but we need less people who think college=more money! in college. I have to grade undergrad papers, and the average undergrad is a functioning retard that thinks he is a genius.

I do not think that goes for the current job atmosphere. it is very tiring to hear about "oh noes the economy" but it is not a joke. I graduatated and started looking for a job literally right on the edge of the whole ordeal. I made a really bad decision {in hindsight} to turn down a good paying job in nashville because i wanted to live in atlanta instead. as the months went by and i looked for more offers i watched the job market literally dry up. there used to be multiple openings every day and now there are maybe 1-2 per month. i have also had my job that i got here in atlanta outsourced to cut costs.

if you do not have a degree AND some type of real word experience in your profession you have no chance of getting a real job. none at all. there are fewer jobs and there are more people (people who have been laid off and have a lot more experience than college grads) looking for those jobs. heres to hoping that things will change by the time youre out but it is better to play it safe than sorry.

as far as where you go, that does not matter really. it makes more sense to go to a community college for 2 years (if you dont have a scolarship of course) then go to a university so you can finish your stuff and also get a "named" school attached to your degree. college is basically highschool 2.0 for 75% of it so there is no reason to pay for that stuff when you can get the same useless review at CC. your degree will not say "went to X CC for 2 years then Y university for 2", it will say "graduated from X university".

while also somewhat pointless, you can also get an associates degree from the 2 year cc so you can look like youre more well rounded.

id go with houseshows to start with, like many people mentioned. it seems to be kinda different in the states compared to here in sweden, here, we can ask for funds from the government and stuff, and there is a number of venues in each town.

but stick to your idea, nothings going to happend in your town unless someone actually does something

Talk to Paengkee for sound tips on a budget. He can make pretty much anything sound good. My advice, find a dayjob that pays, support all of your other endeavors with that. That's all I have to say.
